Get to Know Dr. Danielle Dunkley

How did I get into this career?

My journey to the counseling profession started with my interest in becoming an MD who sat with their patients and got to know them outside of their physical experiences/ailments. After graduating from college, and even taking the MCATs, I took a step back to really consider, “Is this the best way for me to help people in the way I would like to?” I then did some research and found counseling. I instantly lit up with excitement, which was my cue to move forward with graduate school.

What is my favorite thing about counseling?

I really enjoy the process of building a therapeutic relationship with my clients. The process of getting to know who my client is and how my professional training, personal experiences, and personality can help them grow and heal is a rewarding experience. I get excited when I get to witness their growth and healing as they continue to work through their challenges.

What do I like to do when I’m not at Atlanta Wellness Collective?

When I’m not at Atlanta Wellness Collective, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I particularly enjoy traveling. If I’m not able to travel, I opt for visiting the Fox Theatre, hiking local trails, or eating at new restaurants. I find enjoyment in a bit of food, a bit of nature, and a bit of art.

What do I hope for my clients?

I hope my clients can find peace within themselves. Life has many challenging situations. If my clients can find peace within themselves, they will overcome any situation life throws at them.
