Get to Know Alexandra Carver
How did I get into this career?
Connection has always been a strong value of mine, whether it's connecting with a neighbor, family, a stranger at the grocery, or an hour long conversation with a friend. Connection is a powerful way of healing and transforming. Having been in counseling during periods of my life, the connection I felt in the space of counseling was truly remarkable and full of empathy, self-compassion, and vulnerability. There is nothing else quite like it.
What is my favorite thing about counseling?
Since I work from an individualized, client-centered model, my hour-to-hour looks different each day. I love meeting clients exactly where they are and bringing in their strengths. In a day, I could lose horribly at a game of Uno, get on the floor painting with a client, build the next Lego skyscraper, and try my best football throw while counseling. To be able to walk alongside children, teenagers, and families as they are navigating the world around them is truly an honor.
What do I like to do when I'm not at Atlanta Wellness Collective?
I love all things antiquing, painting, traveling, and reading. It’s such a fun feeling turning an "old antique" into a special spot in my house, diving into a new book, or trying a new food in a different country. Finding moments to channel my creativity truly makes me so happy.
What do I hope for my clients?
My hope for my clients is to empower them to own back their own narrative, whether that is learning techniques to manage their anxiety, building communication skills in a family, or processing through trauma. I hope they feel the non-judgmental and safe space that a counseling office can hold. I hope to walk alongside my clients so that they can pull from their "toolbox" and feel equipped to handle the challenges and bumps that life can hold.
