Get to Know Ashley Dressel

How did I get into this career?

I would have to say counseling found me. As I searched for a graduate program for forensic psychology, a staff member at a school in Rhode Island introduced me to the field of mental health counseling. I took a leap of faith and moved to a new state to pursue this career. I truly believe everything happens for a reason.

What is my favorite thing about counseling?

My favorite thing about counseling is sitting with my clients and being a part of their experiences — good and bad. It’s an honor to witness the change and growth that clients experience and to be a part of their lives. I have the privilege of guiding my clients to where they want to be and who they want to be. I enjoy getting to celebrate and cheer them on through their journey.

What do I like to do when I'm not at Atlanta Wellness Collective?

When I’m not at Atlanta Wellness Collective, I love reading a book, watching movies, or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. When feeling less of a home-body, I enjoy taking walks, exercising, going to Braves games, and spending time with friends.

What do I hope for my clients?

My hope for my clients is that they’re able to feel safe and comfortable in my presence. I hope they feel the freedom to express themselves and to feel seen and heard without judgement. I hope counseling feels like a secure space to be themselves.
