Get to Know Wells Ross
How did I get into this career?
I always knew I wanted to attend the University of Georgia and go into a career that involved helping people. I thought about something in the medical field and fell in love with nutrition after taking an Intro to Nutrition class my sophomore year at UGA. I became obsessed with how nutrition effects all aspects of the human body, all of our vital organs, and our overall functioning. It wasn’t until I entered my post grad program at the University of Oklahoma that I learned more about how nutrition deeply affects emotional and mental health. I love to show my clients that food can impact and improve their overall mental and physical wellbeing.
What is my favorite thing about nutrition counseling?
My nutrition philosophy is all food fits, and that the keys to positive nutrition are variety and moderation. I love helping people learn to make eating easy and fun again. Whether you have specific medical or nutritional needs, or have gotten wrapped up in diet culture, eating doesn’t have to be hard. It has become my mission to show clients how to incorporate variety, from foods with key nutrients to their favorite dessert, can be a part of their diet through intuitive eating.
What do I like to do when I’m not at Atlanta Wellness Collective?
I also work as a dietitian at an inpatient eating disorder hospital, specializing in child and adolescent treatment. This has deepened my passion for helping others and showing them how to enjoy food and honor their bodies again. I love trying new restaurants around Atlanta. I would consider eating out a hobby! I also enjoy spin classes and spending time with friends, family, and my cat Louie.
